"Together – the title given to this set of photography’s of empty collective spaces – is a platform term within a network of meaning. Together means one with one another; the simultaneity or the unity of elements which have a certain type of relationship between each other. Thus, this term excludes the idea of separation. Together is a place for collectivity, a place where things are put in common. After all, a set of photography’s is also about the relationship between each image put together, just as well as each one of these photography’s questions their relationship with the other ones, and the building of collectivity, which is represented within. It seemed to me that by photographing these empty places, I was able to represent the idea of community at its best: universities, sports clubs, company’s offices, bus stations... each one of these places are public spaces, the construction of which is a function of the collective uses which it is made of. Empty, they just evoke even better presence, since perception repopulates these images precisely because it experiences the absence in them. What feelings are summoned in this operation? How do we confront ourselves to solitude? How do we build the "us"? These are some of the questions set out by these photography’s." (Thomas Zicola)
