Onze (Stefano Centonze) lives and works in Rome (Italy), where he was born in 1967. He has a diploma in painting from The Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and has been publishing his illustrations since 1988. In 1989, he began collaborating regularly with the daily newspaper il Manifesto. Numerous illustrations have appeared in Dolce Vita, Vanity, Rockstar, Gambero Rosso, Blue, Alias, Bravacasa, Urban, Corriere della Sera, Donna Moderna and Fuoriluogo. His illustrations have been used in advertising campaigns for Saatchi & Saatchi, Young & Rubicam, Mc Cann Erickson. He has also designed bookcovers for the publishers Mondadori, Feltrinelli, Laterza, and Playground. His illustrations consist of various techniques such as pencil, acrylic paint, collage, photography, paintbrush and computer. He always begins his work with a manual drawing on paper,even when digital instruments are to be used. The artistic areas of influence he works with in his own unique and original way consist of expressionist painting, pop art, comics as well as posters. |
