"I am recurringly drawn to the grey area, the blurred (“Bleuuurrrhhh”ed?) boundary between things that are stereotypically viewed as either black or white, as this absolute or that, one extreme or the other. As the world devolves and polarises into yet another dumb-ass clash of fundamentalist dogmas I like to try and find new ways of saying that the only real way forward lies somewhere in the middle where all things merge into one. So what does that have to do with this piece? Well, at what point does the 2D genre known as “Painting” give way to the 3D realm of “Sculpture”? This is my take on that hoary old chestnut.
